Dude...

Marcus is OBSESSED with trains. All we watch all day long is our two Thomas DVD's. I bought 3 more so we had more of a variety because I'm getting sick of them. All I hear all day long is, "Choo Choo!!" while he grabs my hand to take me upstairs and play with his train table. All I have to say is choo choo and he stops his temper tantrum or smiles and looks at the camera. He's cute. It's a good thing I don't mind trains. I think I know what his next birthday's theme is going to be though. Mom since we'll be celebrating it down there, can you see if they have a Thomas cake pan? :)

I stand all amazed

Marcus' speech having a breakthrough has really helped in the whole listening department [well most of the time]. While he was a beast when he was hungry and tired, after he was napped and fed he was pleasant. When I told him to get off the coffee table, he did, almost right away. That NEVER happens. I always have to yell at the top of my lungs to get him to do something. It was so refreshing.

Of course, bribery always works too. He's becoming obsessed with "choo choo" 's. He only wants to watch train DVD's [I ordered a few more Thomas DVD's because we're both getting sick of the ones we've got being watched over and over. He was freaking out in Target today and all I had to say was "Choo choo!" and he stopped his tantrum and starting singing the theme song from Choo Choo Soul.

Jamesen's really amazing me too. It's funny, people will see him climbing, walking, pulling to a stand and standing without holding onto anything and say, "WOW he's so tiny! Was he early?" And I tell them no he was right on his due date and that he's actually really tall for his age. They'll then ask how old he is and it's funny to watch jaws drop when I say 6 months. He's so speedy, so amazing to me.

I found myself complaining to a random stranger [who did the jaw drop thing. She had an 8 month old who wasn't doing anything that J does] about how hard it is to have 2 busy bodies and how jealous I was that her first son didn't start crawling until almost a year old and walking at 18 months and how she didn't expect her little girl to start crawling anytime soon. To be honest, I sort of feel like I got the raw end of the deal. Neither of my kids sleep well at night. Marcus only sleeps through the night half the time and lately he's been waking up multiple times a night. It's hard to deal with two busy bodies on now sleep.

I need to remember how amazing my children are. To think of Marcus having the best balance of any two year old I know as something amazing, not something that's a pain in my backside. The fact that Marcus can climb stairs perfectly at 6 months is amazing, not something designed specifically to irritate me. My children are amazing and I need to remember that. On days like today when Marcus is really testing my patience, I need to remember his sweet smile and how it totally melts my heart. When Jamesen is crying and needy, I need to remember that he won't be this little much longer. Soon he won't want me to kiss him and hold him and love him. He'll be grown up and embarrassed of me.

I looked at my ticker today and realized that Marcus is one month away from being 2 and a half years old. He's halfway to 3. Already. Boggles my mind!

It's a snow day

It's been a day or two since we went out and has been a few weeks since we've seen snow so when we got dumped on over night, Marcus made sure to let me know he was very interested in going out and playing in it. I don't know what it is about snow that makes kids go crazy but as you can see in the above pics, even Jamesen was excited about it. We got about a foot.

Marcus was SO happy to be out in it.

Those smiles right there are the reason I took the kids out despite well below freezing temps with ice wind. How can you not love that face to pieces? And a couple other pics I thought were cute.

They were NOT happy to come in! Though Jamesen's fussiness was because he was tired, but fussiness is fussiness, whatever the reason. Marcus keeps going to the door and sticking his face on it and then trying to bring me his snow pants. I wish Sabe were home to go sledding with us. Marcus has never been and this snow is perfect!

p.s. it's really hard to take pics while holding a baby! :)

Marcus update

He's doing so much better today. He woke up happy instead of crying, took his meds without much fuss, was excited about breakfast and ate it all and then chugged a sippy! His tongue is a lot less white and he's talking a lot again. I think it hurt his tongue to talk so he wasn't saying anything at all. He's been all smiles this morning and is going through his abc's over and over again. It use to bug me the 100th time through but I've missed it the last few days and am happy it's back!

Marcus update

So Marcus' sickness was NOT what I thought it was. A few weeks back I noticed a white patch on his tongue. It didn't seem to bother him and looked like the aftermath of a bad tongue biting so I didn't think anything of it. Then the fevers started and I assumed it was just the same thing Jamie had had only days earlier. Then I got a look at his tongue when he was screaming as I was forcing Ibuprofen on him. The patch was about 3 times the size. Then I started realizing that it wasn't that Marcus just wasn't eating, he would take a bite and then start crying and refuse more. He would ask for a drink, take one sip and then cry and push it away. Obviously his mouth was hurting him. At first I thought maybe it was just his throat that was hurting him but when he even refused a popsicle I got worried.

I took a pic of his tongue and posted it on Facebook to ask my friends and most of them thought it was thrush which sounded right to me. I called Sabe who pulled some strings and he came to get us. We then spent the next two and a half hours in the ER at Ireland Army Community Hospital where both boys were crying because they were bored, tired, one was getting poked and prodded and the other was feeding off him. It was a nightmare really. And Ireland misdiagnosed Marcus. They told me that the fevers and the tongue were unrelated, that they were both viruses and even though I told them multiple times that Marcus hadn't eaten anything in 2 days nor had he drank anything that day, they told me I would have to wait it out. It actually went something like this:

"It's viral [blahblahblah]"
"So that means I'm gonna just have to wait it out?"
" Oh you're one of those people that want a quick fix, huh"
"As a mother yes. My child hasn't eaten anything in two days and keeps refusing drinks and you're telling me I have to wait it out for an untold amount of time?"

The dr's at Ireland are a piece of work I tell you. I've not seen the same one twice and every time I go in, someone says something idiotic to me. Anyways, so I called Dr. S. in the morning and got an appointment. He looked into his mouth and immediately said "That's not thrush!" and then after about 30 more seconds of looking, told me that it was an infection. He also told me that the ER dr's at Ireland are idiots :). He said that when I thought he had bitten his tongue I was probably right and then it got infected instead of getting better.

So I got sent home with a script for some antibiotics and Miracle Mouthwash. It's a numbing mouthwash thing that I have to rub on the infected spot to help get him to eat and drink. He didn't eat, but he drank after it so that's good!

We had Jamesen's 6 month well check at the same time. It was funny because one of the nurses saw him standing up and she was like "Wow he's so tiny! How old is he?" and I when I told her he was 6 months she kind blinked at me and was like "Wow I though he was closer to 10 months the way he's standing there like that!" Made me laugh. Specially since he's big for his age. He's in the 90th for height! 28.5 inches and 18 lbs 14 oz. Which is a two inch gain in two months [WOW!] and almost 3 lbs! He's such a chunker. I can't remember what his head circumference is, but it was off the charts, lol! Marcus at 6 months was 15 lbs 15 oz and 27 inches. He wasn't 19 lbs until a year old! Jamesen is going to take him in height and weight some day I just know it.

He's also going to give me gray hairs before I hit 25

Climbing Vid

Anyways, that's it for now. I'll keep you updated on Marcus. Prayers that he gets better fast and starts eating again would be appreciated. He can't afford to lose any more weight than he already has!

Sickies and Thieves

I thought Marcus was in the clear for getting this sickness that passed between Sabe, Jamie and I. Apparently not. He woke up this morning positively burning up and shaking really bad. When he gets fevers he literally shakes. Kinda like he's shivering but not shivering. Jamesen doesn't do that and neither do I so I don't know if that's a common thing, but it's always been that way. Poor thing though, he's not been eating much at all. He's been drinking fine though, so that's good.

In other news... The other day Sabe asked me if I had the credit card. I said no. So then the next few days I've been searching the house for my debit card and the credit card since both were missing. Well yesterday I went onto Wellsfargo to check on something and happened to see that the credit card balance was $600ish more than it should have been. Someone got a hold of our card! You know you're in Kentucky when someone steals your card and makes purchases for things between $50 and $150 at Walmart 5 times. Apparently they tried to buy stuff online but wellsfargo stopped them. And of course, obviously wellsfargo thought that those purchases were fraudulent but didn't contact me AT ALL or stop the card at all. 5 purchases from Walmart. My card isn't signed. You're supposed to ask for my ID! I wrote them a nasty email and if Wellsfargo doesn't reverse the charges I'm going to throw a hissy fit since they were stopping charges but didn't contact me to find out what was going on.

Oh and I still can't get a hold of the lady that I need to to set up the ultrasound for the bump on Jamie's head. I don't know what's going on over there but she's never there when I call. I keep asking, "Well when should she be there?" and they give me a day and a time and she's never there at that time. It's becoming ridiculous. I've got an appointment for him on Tuesday with his regular pedi so I'm gonna talk to him again and see what he thinks since the lady he sent me to seems like she doesn't know what she's doing anyways. UGH!

On a good note though, Marcus is slowly starting to string two words together. He said jet plane and all aboard yesterday. Oh and he finally said his girlfriends name! We were over there a few days ago and I was calling Abby and he said "Abb-eye!" Today he looked at me and said ear while grabbing his ears. So cute! I just love his little voice!

The little things

It was super rainy yesterday. Shauna asked me if I would take a pic for her so she could draw it. I'm not sure what exactly she was looking for [she said clouds] and I thought for sure it'd be forever before I saw anything worth taking a pic of. Then I looked outside just to check and saw this:

Marcus' scrapbook is getting a bit tight, so I bought him another one so I have it when I need it. I just grabbed this one because it was cute. Then I pulled it out and Marcus got all excited and we both realized that this scrapbook has all his favorite animals on it [giraffe, bear, elephant, camel, alligator, lion, monkey and ostrich. Seriously so random that it had al of them on there!] It was so perfect to have all his favorite animals to say the name and make the sound of. Stupid blogger turned the pic.

We got a time out chair the other day as well. Marcus likes it but has since been held into it for time out and doesn't sit in it and play anymore, lol. He knows it's for when he's in trouble now. You can see a pic of him in it here.
