Exibit A: Slugzilla

Now the real kicker to this one, is that my feet aren't small. I'm not short and I shove those suckers into size 9 shoes. When you think of it that way, this thing looks even bigger! I'm telling you, it was a giant!
Now this next one I did not stop to take pictures of because I was fighting for mine and my children's safety. Normally I'm holding Jamesen while I do laundry because he's got me wrapped around his pudgy little finger and knows how to keep me from ever putting him down. Luckily, yesterday was a good day and he was content to sit there beside me rather than in my arms. I have one of those sectioned laundry baskets. It's a frame that you hang 3 laundry bags from. Normally, I'll dump the clothes and the bag into the wash and then use the bag to bring the clothes upstairs to fold. About 2 months ago, I did that and then couldn't find the bag anywhere. So while I've been looking for it, the clothes have gone onto the bottom of the frame [there's some mesh covering the bottom like 2 inches from the floor].
Anyways, so I'm picking up the clothes, putting them in the washer when all the sudden this giant wolf spider falls out of the clothes and goes scurrying. Normally I call nickle sized spiders big and anything bigger is giant. By those standards, this spider was gargantuan. Sabe always makes fun of me about it. To him, giant spiders are camel spiders. Seeing as how I've never seen a camel spider in real life [hopefully I never do unless it's
securely in something] my big factor is on a smaller scale than his. So when I called him up freaking out about the HUGE!!!!!!!! spider he said "Now how big is huge?" "No seriously babe, HUGE!" The thing was as long as my pointer finger. I think that classifies as huge.
So back up a bit. The spider falls out and I scream which instantly starts Jamesen screaming [good thing he was secure and safe where he was] and Marcus comes running to find me. I'm on one side of the kitchen/laundry room [barefoot] and he's on the other [barefoot and pantsless] and in the middle is this huge spider. He wants so desperately to come to me since I'm freaking out [the thing is still scurrying around] and I'm screaming at him to stay where he is. He's standing there but looks like he's going to disobey me at any second so I had to make a quick decision. A) run around to the other door and hope M doesn't follow me or B) cross the spiders path and keep Marcus from going near the thing. Now normally I would NEVER cross a spiders path because they come after me and I'm deathly afraid of them, but it's really funny what having a child will do to a mothers fears. I would walk into a room full of the deadliest spiders in the world barefoot if Marcus was stuck in the center.
So I cross the path and it scurries and I scream [Jamesen's screaming harder and Marcus is now suction cupped to my thigh]. There's no way I was going to try and kill the thing because getting close enough to squish it just wasn't an option. I had to trap it. I was going to use a cup but all the cups I have have pretty small diameters and I didn't want to miss and piss it off so I grabbed the next best thing, the lid to one of my pots. Not only does it have a bigger diameter, but it's glass so I could make sure the spider was still in there and didn't somehow have super spider strength and get the lid off it.
I'm still sternly telling Marcus to stay out of the way, totally shaking at this point. I take aim and toss the lid and MISS! And man let me tell you, that spider was FAST. It goes running to take cover towards a bunch of shoes that are in the hallway and I knew I had only one more chance before it hid again so I tossed it and caught it under. Now another thing, I had to move the lid and secure it because I would not put it past Marcus to see the lid and pick it up to play with it. So I slide the lid across the floor into a corner [spider freaking out under it] and put a laundry basket on part of it to try and hide it from Marcus. There it waited until Sabe came home. His comment was "Wow, that is a big spider!"
I shudder to think what could have happened. Marcus had a tendency to grab the dirty clothes and try to put them on. It's gross, so I get mad at him when he does it [which he won't now though thank goodness, since I found the bag]. Marcus could have found the thing and got bitten. It wasn't small so I'm sure it could have packed a powerful punch and Marcus is only 2. I had been contemplating trying to keep him out of the kitchen completely but haven't bothered seeing as how he can climb over baby gate, open doors and pull off those door knob covers. We would have had to get a chain for the one door and put a door and a chain on the other side. Too much of a hassle for just playing in dirty clothes in my book.
Speaking of kids doing crazy thing, Jamesen is really starting to sit up now which frustrates me and makes me so proud at the same time. It frustrates me because I'm fully expecting Jamesen to be exactly like Marcus. If he is, Sabe and I have decided that we won't be having more kids. Adding another child will just makes it that much more likely that one of the boys will succeed in slipping away from me at some point. And yet I'm so proud of him because he's only 3 months and already starting to sit. Now, he's still really wobbly and only holds it for a few seconds at a time, but the fact that he can keep himself up for those few seconds is awesome! The pics aren't that good because I kept having to catch him. I didn't want him falling off the couch [again :( ]

Cutest thing EVER!!! I tried Marcus' suit on him yesterday. I got it in size 2T-3T because Sabe's brother is going to be getting married in July, 2 months before Marcus' 3rd birthday, so we wanted it to fit for both weddings. It's a bit big on him now, but it's still so cute. And I have to say, he was NOT happy about being put into it. He wasn't feeling very well, but I had to make sure the thing fit before getting to Vegas and having it too small or something. He was making it difficult to get pics of him.

Isn't he adorable?? Man he's going to be so cute. I hope he does ok. It would be ten times cuter if he was perfect walking down the aisle and just stood next to me the entire time. A mom can dream, right?
And I was contemplating getting some professional pics of the kids taken while I was in Vegas but have since decided there's no need to pay a billion dollars when I can take these myself:

I'm amazed at what getting a DSLR has done to my pictures. It makes it so easy to take beautiful pictures. I edit them in photoshop and the pictures are awesome to start out with and then beautiful when I'm done with them [if I do say so myself ;) ]
Anyways, that was my Friday. Have a great day! :)
