Excited

Marcus had been driving me nuts all day. I was trying to figure out my new camera and he was crying instead of smiling. So instead of being frustrated, I decided to have fun. I said those sacred 4 words, "Mommy's gonna get you!!!" And his face instantly lit into this grin followed by a shriek and the pitter patter of little feet running away as fast as they could.

Giant Southerners

Exibit A: Slugzilla

Now the real kicker to this one, is that my feet aren't small. I'm not short and I shove those suckers into size 9 shoes. When you think of it that way, this thing looks even bigger! I'm telling you, it was a giant!

Now this next one I did not stop to take pictures of because I was fighting for mine and my children's safety. Normally I'm holding Jamesen while I do laundry because he's got me wrapped around his pudgy little finger and knows how to keep me from ever putting him down. Luckily, yesterday was a good day and he was content to sit there beside me rather than in my arms. I have one of those sectioned laundry baskets. It's a frame that you hang 3 laundry bags from. Normally, I'll dump the clothes and the bag into the wash and then use the bag to bring the clothes upstairs to fold. About 2 months ago, I did that and then couldn't find the bag anywhere. So while I've been looking for it, the clothes have gone onto the bottom of the frame [there's some mesh covering the bottom like 2 inches from the floor].

Anyways, so I'm picking up the clothes, putting them in the washer when all the sudden this giant wolf spider falls out of the clothes and goes scurrying. Normally I call nickle sized spiders big and anything bigger is giant. By those standards, this spider was gargantuan. Sabe always makes fun of me about it. To him, giant spiders are camel spiders. Seeing as how I've never seen a camel spider in real life [hopefully I never do unless it's securely in something] my big factor is on a smaller scale than his. So when I called him up freaking out about the HUGE!!!!!!!! spider he said "Now how big is huge?" "No seriously babe, HUGE!" The thing was as long as my pointer finger. I think that classifies as huge.

So back up a bit. The spider falls out and I scream which instantly starts Jamesen screaming [good thing he was secure and safe where he was] and Marcus comes running to find me. I'm on one side of the kitchen/laundry room [barefoot] and he's on the other [barefoot and pantsless] and in the middle is this huge spider. He wants so desperately to come to me since I'm freaking out [the thing is still scurrying around] and I'm screaming at him to stay where he is. He's standing there but looks like he's going to disobey me at any second so I had to make a quick decision. A) run around to the other door and hope M doesn't follow me or B) cross the spiders path and keep Marcus from going near the thing. Now normally I would NEVER cross a spiders path because they come after me and I'm deathly afraid of them, but it's really funny what having a child will do to a mothers fears. I would walk into a room full of the deadliest spiders in the world barefoot if Marcus was stuck in the center.

So I cross the path and it scurries and I scream [Jamesen's screaming harder and Marcus is now suction cupped to my thigh]. There's no way I was going to try and kill the thing because getting close enough to squish it just wasn't an option. I had to trap it. I was going to use a cup but all the cups I have have pretty small diameters and I didn't want to miss and piss it off so I grabbed the next best thing, the lid to one of my pots. Not only does it have a bigger diameter, but it's glass so I could make sure the spider was still in there and didn't somehow have super spider strength and get the lid off it.

I'm still sternly telling Marcus to stay out of the way, totally shaking at this point. I take aim and toss the lid and MISS! And man let me tell you, that spider was FAST. It goes running to take cover towards a bunch of shoes that are in the hallway and I knew I had only one more chance before it hid again so I tossed it and caught it under. Now another thing, I had to move the lid and secure it because I would not put it past Marcus to see the lid and pick it up to play with it. So I slide the lid across the floor into a corner [spider freaking out under it] and put a laundry basket on part of it to try and hide it from Marcus. There it waited until Sabe came home. His comment was "Wow, that is a big spider!"

I shudder to think what could have happened. Marcus had a tendency to grab the dirty clothes and try to put them on. It's gross, so I get mad at him when he does it [which he won't now though thank goodness, since I found the bag]. Marcus could have found the thing and got bitten. It wasn't small so I'm sure it could have packed a powerful punch and Marcus is only 2. I had been contemplating trying to keep him out of the kitchen completely but haven't bothered seeing as how he can climb over baby gate, open doors and pull off those door knob covers. We would have had to get a chain for the one door and put a door and a chain on the other side. Too much of a hassle for just playing in dirty clothes in my book.

Speaking of kids doing crazy thing, Jamesen is really starting to sit up now which frustrates me and makes me so proud at the same time. It frustrates me because I'm fully expecting Jamesen to be exactly like Marcus. If he is, Sabe and I have decided that we won't be having more kids. Adding another child will just makes it that much more likely that one of the boys will succeed in slipping away from me at some point. And yet I'm so proud of him because he's only 3 months and already starting to sit. Now, he's still really wobbly and only holds it for a few seconds at a time, but the fact that he can keep himself up for those few seconds is awesome! The pics aren't that good because I kept having to catch him. I didn't want him falling off the couch [again :( ]

Cutest thing EVER!!! I tried Marcus' suit on him yesterday. I got it in size 2T-3T because Sabe's brother is going to be getting married in July, 2 months before Marcus' 3rd birthday, so we wanted it to fit for both weddings. It's a bit big on him now, but it's still so cute. And I have to say, he was NOT happy about being put into it. He wasn't feeling very well, but I had to make sure the thing fit before getting to Vegas and having it too small or something. He was making it difficult to get pics of him.

Isn't he adorable?? Man he's going to be so cute. I hope he does ok. It would be ten times cuter if he was perfect walking down the aisle and just stood next to me the entire time. A mom can dream, right?

And I was contemplating getting some professional pics of the kids taken while I was in Vegas but have since decided there's no need to pay a billion dollars when I can take these myself:

I'm amazed at what getting a DSLR has done to my pictures. It makes it so easy to take beautiful pictures. I edit them in photoshop and the pictures are awesome to start out with and then beautiful when I'm done with them [if I do say so myself ;) ]

Anyways, that was my Friday. Have a great day! :)

I'm in love

With my new camera!! Even when you get shots that aren't professional grade, they're still awesome! Like this one Sabe took of me and Marcus. We were rough housing and Sabe took some pics. It was nice to get some of me and Marcus since I'm always the one taking the pics! Oh it's the flash that makes my hair so red. It's really not this red.

And then here are some pics that I've taken.

It's so easy to get good shots with this camera! It's really upping my confidence in photo taking and maybe I'll start doing mock shoots of people to get experience. Well I've already got maternity shots lined up for a friend and then newborn shots when she gives birth. She's only half way though so it'll be awhile :)

On another note, Marcus is sick. He had a fever of 102.2 last night and was really lethargic so we took him to the hospital and ruled out ear infections, strep and the flu. I was afraid it was the swine flu for a bit there. There have been some cases of it on post and we've not had flu shots. He's acting like he feels a bit better but isn't really eating at all. Poor thing :(

And!! Less than a week until Vegas!!!! I'm so excited! I hope the boys do well on the plane. Marcus has to be in his carseat and even though I'll be wearing Jamesen, I'll be sitting down so he might not like it. We'll see. It'll be a lot of fun taking pics at my friends wedding though! Marcus is going to be the ring bearer! I hope he does ok and isn't a total monster. I asked her if she realized that Marcus probably wasn't going to do it right and she said "Yeah, that's the point. It'll be cute". As long as she thinks him throwing a fit in the middle and me having to take him out is cute, than I'm game, lol!

Slipping in some Tongue

The ages of my children are the best ages anyone can have. It amazes me every day just watching Marcus and remembering that he was once Jamesen's size and needed my help with everything. Now I've got a little defiant two year old who doesn't need mommy's help, and he sure tells me so.

His favorite thing now days is coloring. He's gotten really mad at me for hiding all the pens. I use to have them on the window sill above the kitchen sink but he found those. He use to have crayons, but after throwing them everywhere, and me missing some at clean up, I got a very colorful door. So then I bought one of those books that has the markers that only color on the paper... just so you know, it also colors on your tongue.

So we got sidewalk chalk instead. The good thing about sidewalk chalk is, if he happens to slip one in the door, all it takes is a quick wipe down with a wet paper towel to clean it up. Here's my artist at work.

Where do I begin with Jamesen? He's at the age where he's showing the beginnings of his personality. Let me tell you, having a small child makes you never take life for granted. Everything is amazing to him. There's a quote that says "There's not 7 wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. there's 7 million." and it's so true. I can't even tell you what these pictures do to me. I love watching him watch the leaves fall or the bugs crawl by or the wind blow through the trees. It's a miracle all over for me.

So the boys have something in common. When Marcus was this age, I would kiss him repeatedly on the lips and he would think it was hilarious. Jamesen does too. He laughs and smiles. And then he holds his mouth wide open and its a game. He'll try and slip me some tongue while I'm kissing him and I have to try and miss his tongue. I know it sounds weird, but he laughs every time he gets me and I start laughing. And I will do anything to hear that music.

Change

I usually don't much like change. Like, babies growing too fast. Don't like that at all! My body changing after being pregnant [again] and not being able to fit into my pre preg clothes... yeah don't like that.

But there are some thing I really like to change. Like upgrades. Sabe just bought me a Canon Rebel XSi as an early Christmas present and I CAN'T WAIT to play with it!! I'm so excited about it you have no idea! I'm going to be taking pics of everything!

Another change I like is hair cuts. They always feel so refreshing. I'm thinking of getting another one. THIS ONE to be exact. What do you think?

My Boys

You know, it's amazing what a few hours of personal time can do to a mom. I was going crazy for weeks and had like 6 Marcus free hours where Jamesen was sleeping most of the time and my patience meeter has been pretty much recharged.

And when they're not driving me crazy I have to admit that they're pretty cute, lol! Jamesen is really laughing a lot lately and it's sooooooooooooo cute. I can't stand it! I just want to eat him :)

And you know, even though Marcus drives me insane with his climbing, he's really quite amazing. Do you know another just barely two year old who can do this?? Climbing Vid Some of you might know one other toddler but I guarantee most of you don't! This was only the second time he climbed up that thing. The first he needed help and once he knew he could do it, he went all the way up!

Speaking of amazing babies... Jamesen amazes me as well. I know I've said this before, but he can keep himself in an upright position if he's got one side supported. Marcus couldn't do that at his age and I don't know many almost 3 month olds who can do that either!

You'll have to go to my photobucket. I'm having issues uploading.

Isn't that last one cute?! Oh he steals my heart, lol! Too bad he doesn't have dimples.

Ok, signing off :)
